Sotto Sotto has good Italian food with tasty sauces and lots of choices. Located on North Highland in Inman Park, it is convenient from many parts of the city.
MENU: ****
There are lots of interesting choices from which to choose, including pasta and risotto dishes and seafood, chicken and meat entrees.
FOOD QUALITY: ****
High-quality ingredients and robust flavors are present in every dish, down to the olive oil for dipping the bread.
FOOD PRESENTATION: ****
When the food arrives at the table it looks as good as it tastes. Food is arranged attractively on the plate, yet is not overly fancy or intricate in design.
ATMOSPHERE: ****
The walls are painted in the unfinished, rustic look of old world Italian charm. The restaurant is small, with a little bar area in the back. There is an open kitchen overlooking one side of the restaurant; For those seated at tables adjacent to this, dinner conversations are often interrupted by the clanking of pots and pans. If you are seated on the opposite side of the restaurant, however, it is quite cozy.
CLEANLINESS: ****
The restaurant is very clean. Tablecloths are changed regularly, and waiters sweep breadcrumbs off the table prior to serving dinner.
SERVICE: ***
Service could be ramped up a notch. Waiters tend to lack attentiveness when it comes to requesting more water, a second glass of wine or even some extra napkins. At such a small restaurant, the servers could be a bit more focused.
MENU RECOMMENDATIONS:
Wood roasted fish is served crispy to perfection. Risotto with frutti de mar is a sumptuous specialty. Lasagna bolognese is the perfect answer when you’re looking for a rich, lush pasta dish.
OVERALL RATING: ****
The entrees are superb in taste, flavor and quality, whether you’re in the mood for pasta or fish, chicken or meat. Prices are a tad high, especially for the portion sizes served here, and the seating arrangement could be better. The section of tables alongside the kitchen are crammed next to each other. For the best possible comfort and overall dining experience, call ahead and make a reservation to request a table as far away from the kitchen as possible.
